Alabama A&M University's Marketing, Communications and Advancement (MCA) division is a liaison between the University and its many public audiences, partners, and stakeholders. It handles relations with AAMU's host communities, state and federal governments, the news media, and is responsible for fundraising. The office is located in 309 Patton Hall.
MCA nurtures the relationship between the University and its host communities by working closely with local leaders, schools and educators and civic organizations in Huntsville and North Alabama, as well as other communities, where the University has a presence.
The Advancement team is responsible for the University's fundraising efforts. This team provides strategic leadership and planning for the University. Responsible for managing and expanding University’s contributions as well as develop new sources of income from corporations, foundations, individuals, events and governmental grants, among others to meet the University's extramural funding goals.
The Public Relations team (Marketing and Public Relations unit and the Telecommunications Center/WJAB-FM) accounts for the University’s outbound communications; serves as a resource to local, national and international media organizations; and plays a key role in sustaining the University’s online and broadcast presence. It produces several print and online publications for the University, resolutions, announcements, notices, photography and services. The Telecommunications Center also provides numerous community outreach functions.
The Government Relations team represents the University’s interests in legislation and regulation affecting higher education and maintains relationships with everyone from key thinkers on the national political scene to regulators to local lawmakers.
