What you should know about WJAB…
WJAB-FM 90.9 is a public radio station licensed to Alabama A. & M. University under the guidance of the Alabama A. & M. University Board of Trustees. The station is 100,000 watts and has been in existence since 1991. The station can also be heard live on the Internet here.
The format includes traditional and contemporary Jazz, Blues and Gospel. There are a number of specialty shows that highlight music from around the world and encourage the listeners to broaden their horizons and appreciation for other cultures. The station operates twenty four hours and seven days a week.
WJAB also carries hourly National Public Radio news on the hour as well as local news on the hour. The flagship programs associated with NPR, Morning Edition and All Things Considered, are also a part of the daily programming line-up. Local public affairs programs and specials are also a regular part of the WJAB format.
WJAB is particularly proud to provide educational opportunities and internships to students at Alabama A. & M. University. This HBCU provides outstanding students who are employed with many local, regional and national television and radio entities.
